Preparing for FAccT 2027: Important updates for Authors and Reviewers
First, an important reminder: If you currently do not have an OpenReview account, please make sure to create one without delay. Authors without an institutional affiliation should sign up as soon as possible, because profile verification may take a couple of weeks to process. For these authors, we recommend creating an account by October 16, 2026, to allow enough time for verification. Please do not leave this until the submission deadline!
Announcing Best Paper Awards
The Best Paper Award Committee was chaired this year by Suresh Venkatasubramanian and included eight Area Chairs: William Agnew, Sebastian Benthall, Toon Calders, Shion Guha, Kate Kaye, Samir Passi, and Hilde Weerts. Committee members were assigned nominated papers to review and score, following checks for conflict of interest.

Reflections on the FAccT 2026 Review Process
Welcome to the 9th Annual ACM Conference on Fairness, Accountability, and Transparency! We look forward to gathering with you in Montréal soon! As Program Chairs, we wanted to explain how papers were reviewed and selected, so that the community has transparency about the process and to reflect on possible improvements for future years. The biggest innovation this year was the addition of a revise and resubmit process. This raised new opportunities and challenges as outlined below. Two other major changes were the requirement of a new Generative AI Usage Statement and the adoption of the OpenReview platform for submission and reviews.
